Track Coordinator - Holly Wilson

St. Jude offers a Track and Field program for students in 5th-8th grades. This program takes place in the spring. The track and field program is designed to introduce students to the various running and field events. Conditioning is a major goal for these students and working to improve their personal best in races and field events.

Track and Field begins practice in February. Practices are held both at Catholic High and Highland Road Park. Traditional practice days are Monday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Students participate in the following events:
  • 100 Meter
  • 200 Meter
  • 400 Meter
  • 800 Meter
  • 1600 Meter
  • Relays
  • High Jump
  • Long Jump
  • Triple Jump (Seniors only)
  • Discus
  • Shot Put
  • 100 Meter Hurdles

Students may participate in a maximum of four events with no more than two field events. Each school is limited on the number of entries in each event. Not all students may be able to participate in all events due to the size of the team.

Events are separated into juniors (5th & 6th grade) and seniors (7th & 8th grade). Meets are usually held at Episcopal, Catholic High, Port Allen and Plaquemine. There are usually 5-6 meets mostly held on Saturdays in the spring. Episcopal is usually on a Sunday.
